If you are new to stationary bikes you may wonder what a recumbent bike is and why I would use it over an upright bike. I‘ll start by saying I use both types. Which one I choose really has more to do with how hard I want to work. I find my cardio vascular work on a recumbent bike easier and more comfortable. It is more comfortable on my back because it has a seat with a back. Then I will ride casually and read! Yes read.... I find this easier to do on a recumbent bike.

The Star Trac Pro  is an amazing machine. This model offers Star Trac`s sleek design and styling, coupled with the smooth feel of the belt drive system. It is about as reliable as any of its competitors` offerings, and is as comfortable to own as it is to ride. The contoured backrest set design, offers lumbar support, comfort, and easy leg movement. With its great graphical display, this bike allows you to choose from a variety of programs, while enabling you to scroll through different performance readouts. As the bike is self-powered, there are no messy cords to deal with, and the bikes own front wheels enable it to be moved quite easily.

I often use the heart rate monitors if they are on the sides of the bike to hold onto- really as just a place to put my arms. The Pro  has handles. They make the ride really comfortable.

Without a doubt this bike has the most comfortable seat I have found on a bike. It has a bit of a contour. The sides are built up a little and the seat has some cushioning. There is a nice high back. The back is not high enough to support my head(Im 6ft 3" with quit a long upper body). I haven‘t found a bike that does that yet but it has a comfortable feel to it.

The Startrac Pro  takes the mystery out of moving the seat. You won‘t have to go fishing for the handle or fight with a knob. There is a handle that goes around the seat. Just move it up a bit (think car) and the seat easily moves to wherever you want it.

The whole console is feature rich.

The Startrac Pro has a built in heart rate monitor which I highly recommend on any machine. Unless you have a heart rate monitor or want to buy one your machine should have this feature built in. Considering this bike retails new for over £2000 which is a lot of cash for a bike, I have to say the build quality reflects the price. Now the fact you can purchase a used example for around £450 which does make it a far more atractive deal.
